Update on Bulgarian mortgage

Well Christmas is getting closer, so money is getting tighter!!
However I recieved an email from the developer this week to confirm they're happy with me making payments of GBP 400 per month, hopefully this is until I get a bulgarian mortgage approved??

Fingers crossed for better news in 2010!

Update on Bansko - November 1st 2009

well it's a new month and I'm still waiting for the bank to evaluate the property.

I believe this will now be a week on Monday. I sent the developers an email to offer a new payment plan of GBP 400 per month but received a harsh threatening response from the sales department. I know other owners on the complex are in the same boat.

I'll see what response I get tomorrow!

Update on Bansko - Sunday 11th October

Well as they say no news is good news!

I'll be making the call tomorrow for an update and see where I stand.

I've been advised that home insurance in the UK can sometimes cover legal fees if you buy property abroad. I never knew that! I checked the T&Cs and you csn get cover for 50K, but I never ticked the box!! So not covered!

Update on Bankso - Sunday 4th October

Well after 16 months of waiting, it looks like the developers and the banks may start to work with us

The bank have agreed to visit Bansko next week and re-evaluate the complex and my apartment.

We may be able to negotiate a payment plan, so have agreed a monthly payment for them to review. They will come back to me within the next week or so.

Jet villas and buying abroad

Hi everyone, welcome to my first blog!

I'm Johnny, and over the last 4 years have developed a website called Jet-villas.

We started advertising property investments in Florida and Bulgaria, following purchasing our own villa in Florida and in Bulgaria, the buying process was easy but as the economic climate changed in late 2007 we decided to focus more on holiday rentals; and to help people increase their own rental potential.

Buying abroad isn't easy and can throw in the odd challenge or two or three. It's not just the buying, it's the after care, the marketing, the rental income, the customer care, the feedback etc.

How do you market 2 properties to family and friends?? Well read on.....

After my first purchase in Kosharitsa, Sunny Beach I decided to go it alone and purchase a ski studio apartment in Bansko, off the internet without viewing.. Why? I don't know, it just made sense at the time and I heard Bansko was going to boom, following their application for the Winter Olympics.

Having seen the property now and the development, it looks excellent, the only problem is no one is lending, so making the final payment is a nightmare!! And still on-going. Could I lose the property?? Yes! and 10 years of savings!!

So here I am telling you about the problems I faced, why? Well, I suppose I'm being honest with you..

So, over the last 12 months I've thrown myself into Jet-villas holiday rentals, looking at what other holiday owners are doing and starting to manage a number of their properties abroad; and to try and recoup some of my 10 years of savings!

The great thing about doing this blog is hopefully being able to read what other people have faced and learning from them.
